St Marys Rugby League Club has a proud reputation for supporting our community, and this year was no exception. Although there were many external challenges, we are confident that our funding and support of local organisations and individuals has been influential in meeting the increasing needs of the community.
The main purpose for which this Club was established was to support junior rugby league and through St Marys Junior Rugby League we contributed over $600,000 this year towards the development and nurturing of our young players. However, our community support is much more diverse than just sport; it is an objective of the Board of Directors to continue supporting a large cross section of the community.
Every month the CDSE Committee and Board of Directors receive an overwhelming number of requests for financial and other assistance from a wide range of community organisations. In the year under review, St Marys Rugby League Club contributed over $920,000 to various local projects encompassing Home and Community Care, Aged, Disability and Youth Services, Early Childhood Health and Family Services.
Beneficiaries over the past twelve months have included the Werrington Community Project ($4,000) towards the annual Werrington Festival, Men of League Foundation ($10,000) towards the major project of developing a residential care and rehabilitation facility for former players, coaches, administrators etc, from all levels of the game and their families, Lethbridge Park Public School ($5,500) towards their Breakfast Club, North St Marys Neighbourhood Centre ($6,600) to support the development of underprivileged children with language delays, Penrith Valley Sports Foundation ($2,000) to support junior athletics, Tregear Public School ($2,269) towards their Breakfast Program and Tregear Presbyterian Pre-School ($15,048) to support the continuation of their speech therapy program for underprivalaged children.

Variety, The Children’s Charity who has provided support to many families within our community over many years was this year’s major beneficiary receiving a grant of $74,000. Our funding to Variety, The Children’s Charity enables them to continue supporting our local community with the purchase of specialised equipment and learning aids for special needs children. The Kurrambee School at Werrington was very appreciative for the donation of a new fully equipped bus, allowing children with disabilities to venture out into the community, something that can often be taken for granted.
The unprecedented commitment of the Board is also demonstrated by the personal time spent visiting individuals and organisations who submit requests. We are very fortunate to have a Board of Directors who are personally committed to making a difference and supporting the ever increasing needs of the community.
The Club, which actively participates in both the Penrith and Blacktown Local Government CDSE committees, also supports hundreds of other charities and organisations. A list of the many organisations and individuals that St Marys Rugby League Club has supported over the last 12 months is listed below. If you have a project that is in need of funding please review the CDSE guidelines at www.clubsnsw.com.au and submit an application form. We would love to help.
