Club Ambassador


St Marys Rugby League Club is very proud to announce the appointment of Bryce Cartwright as the Club’s Official Ambassador. Bryce is a very proud St Marys junior who commenced his playing career as a young Saint in the Under 6’s back in 2000. Bryce played an impressive 167 games over 12 consecutive seasons before being signed by the Penrith Panthers.

The Cartwright name is synonymous with St Marys Rugby League Club and the appointment of Bryce continues the Cartwright’s longstanding association which extends back to his grandfather, club stalwart Merv Cartwright, his father David Cartwright who is a Life Member and former St Marys Junior and uncles Cliff, John and Mick who are also all former Saints. As the Club’s Ambassador, Bryce will perform a number of duties including:

• Promoting the game of rugby league with visits to local schools.
• Attending training & skill sessions with the Club’s junior sides.
• Attendance at Club games.
• Meet and greet sessions for Club members and their families.
• Special guest appearances at Club functions.
• All aimed at inspiring young players and partnering with the Club to further our commitment to junior league and community support initiatives.

From an Under 6’s St Marys Junior to a now successful NRL first grade player, Bryce’s list of achievements continue to grow:

• In 2009, recipient of the St Marys Rugby League Club “Bill Webster Perpetual Trophy – Most Outstanding Saturday Player”.
• In 2009, recipient of the St Marys Rugby League Club “Merv Cartwright Trophy – Best Saturday International Rules Player”.
• In 2009, achieved 10 years service with the St Marys Rugby League Club.
• In 2013, was named at second-row in the NYC Team of the Year.
• In 2013, NYC Player of the Year Award (Dally M Awards).
• In 2013, represented the Junior Kangaroos.
• In 2014, made his NRL debut for the Penrith Panthers against the Parramatta Eels.
• In 2016, selected in the NSW City Origin team.
• In 2017, selected in the World All Stars team.

Warren Smith, President of St Marys Rugby League Club is proud to formally announce this appointment stating “our Club and St Marys Junior Rugby League cannot think of a more fitting person to represent the Club and be our “Ambassador”.
